Okay, so I mentioned that one place we were in was built in 1540 - well, here's proof. It's now an art museum and David gave us a wonderful tour and told us the history. In the last bunch of photos there was one of a monk... well, that's Don Vasco de Quiroga. The main plaza is named after him and this is where he lived. If I could find that other brochure I could tell you lots more. I'm sure you're all disappointed that I can't find it.

We started walking down to where the Villa Patzcuaro is located.... that's the place we didn't stay after all but would of if we had our camper with us. It was about a mile or so down toward the lake. You didn't know there was a lake, did you? Well, there is. But on the way we passed all kinds of places but my favorite thing we saw was this chair. Isn't it georgous? It had a price tag on it of about $200. Try and find that in the US.

So we checked out the RV park and it's nice. I hope we get to stay there one of these years because this area is very interesting with lots to see. Of course, we may just rent the apartment we found..... but that's in Patzcuaro 3. Just want to keep you interested in upcoming chapters!

We walked to the lake and had lunch.  The lake has boats that take you out to this island with a big statue, but we didn't do that.  We mostly just watched people and ate.  Their speciality here are those tiny little fish in the picture (and I don't remember the name but they come out of the lake).  Mike ate some, I did not.

Those colorful things in the barrel are butterfly nets.  They're really neat, cheap and handmade (everything is here) and I'd have bought one if I had room.  There are butterfly reserves not too far away and that is one of the reasons we want to come back here.  I guess they're amazing.  Zillions of butterflies.  There is so much to see in this country but dental work is important too!!  More about that in Patzcuaro 3.  As you can tell, I get bored doing this and have to entertain myself.  Mike is sleeping but he has a good reason.  Again, more in P 3!

We took the little bus back to town since it was all uphill and walked thru the market and the squares. Love this town. When we got back to our little hotel, there were swans and flowers on the bed.... how sweet. And the second to the last photo is of the courtyard garden at our little hotel, Pueblo Magico!

There's more.........
