Loving Zihuatanejo

Hello again,

I know, two emails like this in one day is a bit much but I had so so so many pictures and can do just fifteen at a time with the program I'm using.....so you get to hear from me once again.

The place where we camped the night before coming here (second flat tire/wheel place) is near the ferry landing for Isla Grande.  It's just north of Ixtapa about 10 miles north of here and is where the crocodile habitat is located.  We camped right next to it that fateful night.  Anyway, we went back up there to head over to Isla Grande and I think I got some great shots of crocodiles just being themselves.  And a brave turtle.

Isla Grande is lovely and we spent the day just loafing around on all three of the beaches located there.  One in particular is quite beautiful and Mike and I may just go back there again and take our snorkel gear.  The water looked to be very clear and clean.  It's not quite like that here in Zihuatanejo Bay.

We've been blessed with lots of nice people surrounding us here.  Besides our friends, Brent and Susan who own the beautiful condo with the views, we've spent many hours chatting with couples from Canada (of course) that have been visitors to the Villa and there are other new friends that are in our little RV park.  One of the couples, Laurie and John, are friends with Brent and Susan.  They all met while cruising in Mexico and it's boating that afforded us the opportunity to meet Brent and Susan in Hawaii thru mutual friends so.......the circle goes on and on.  We've had the pleasure of dinners together and other activities.  Laurie and Joyce found a mutual interest in quilting and had lots of intense conversation that they both seemed to enjoy quite a lot.

Dave and Nancy, who own the villa are from Idaho and Dave's grandson is in the RV next to us.  Tyson, who is 26, is just out of college and is sending out resumes all over the world.  I'm sure he'll find an interesting career.  Dave's daughter and her husband, Don, are also from Idaho and are traveling in their large coach and with a motorcycle and a beautiful German Shepard.  Ponzer (the pup) had to have surgery a few days ago and we were all pretty worried about him as it didn't go well at first, but he's recovering nicely.  There are three dogs that live at the villa and they come visit us whenever they smell cooking going on.  Pretty funny.   It's been a real nice community to "live" in for a bit.

After being here, even for just a few days, it seems like every time we go anywhere we run into someone we know.   Today we took our morning walk up the hill and ran into Brent and Susan and wound up having breakfast together.  Later we're walking back to the Villa on the beach and here comes Laurie and John.  We go to town and we run into Dave and Tyson.  We go for a walk a few days ago and run into Jackie, the lady who owns the wonderful Jungle Pizza place, walking her dog.  It's pretty fun to feel so at home in a place so quickly.

My camera is all empty so I'll start taking more photos and see what comes up next.  Hope you are all having a good winter and keeping warm and dry and healthy.

Adois,

Gayle (and Mike who's sleeping - it's almost 10pm)
