Family Reunion

 Subject: Washington

 Hello All,

Well, we raced through Idaho, a corner of Oregon, thru eastern Washington and arrived at my daughter's house on the 28th of July.  Whew!  We never move that fast.  Mike keeps track and said we went 1,000 miles in a week.  Way over our limit.  But we had things to do here, family things, so we'll spend more time in Idaho another time.

We did spend two nights in Boise with our friends, Peter and Isabelle.  Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos.  We were all so busy talking with each other I just never got around to it.  Isabelle made some killer ribs for dinner the first night and the second night we went downtown and enjoyed a fun restaurant.  And we had two gourmet breakfasts as well.  Thanks Isabelle!!

Boise is a very nice smaller city....we liked it a lot.  We had a great visit and we're sure going to miss them when we get back to Kauai......very, very much. We loved Idaho so I know we'll be going back there.  We drove through the Sawtooth Range and saw so many places to camp on the way to Boise.  Since we were on a mission to get to Seattle ASAP we weren't able to do the state justice.

We may even spend some time in Idaho before we go back to Hawaii this fall but probably not to Boise.  But you never know with us.

At the Cook's (my daughter, Kristin's) there is always something going on.  The kids have friends that are always dropping by and a cousin was visiting from Alaska.  My son in law, Mitch, comes 1/2 from a large family and a bunch of them - along with some friends - came for dinner on Friday.....way fun.  Thursday night Kristin and I went to an informal get together with some of my old classmates from the Renton High School class of '65.  Her father, Gary, and his wife, Diana showed up and we all had a good visit.  And then yesterday was the family reunion for my Mother's side of the family.  My mother is the one on the right and my aunt, her sister, is in red.  Aren't they cute?  All my cousins were there and a large percentage of their children and grandchildren.  It was very fun and so nice to see everyone.

So today we're at Joyce's house and Mike is working on some solar panel wiring project/problem.  And he's not winning!  The place is a shambles!  My Mom is coming for dinner and tomorrow is my birthday so there will be more frivolity before we escape from here in a few days!!  We think we're headed for Vancouver Island.....that's the plan anyway.  I must check out the ferry schedule.  We've ordered new tires (I know, we're always getting new tires or wheels or both!!) and they should be here in a couple days.  Since it's supposedly summer we're going to hit the road for another month or two before putting this rig to rest for the winter! So that's the latest.

All is well and I think I'll go see if Joyce wants to play cards!!

 Aloha, Gayle
