My Regatta Cruise #14
Hi Everyone,
Well, one last stop in Quebec City before disembarking at Montreal and heading home. Quebec City is really beautiful and not as big as I imagined. We took a tour that got us out of town in a surprisingly short time. Our first stop was at a maple syrup "sugar shack". It was in a lovely rural area with green hills and the St. Lawrence River below. The fall colors were in evidence here.
They explained how they process the maple sap into syrup and had a taste of the maple sugar. There was also a gift shop, of course, and the facility was set up for large gatherings with lots of murals on the wall. It had been around for a long me and you could tell that there had been a lot of fun happenings here.
Next, we drove back over the river for a view of Montmorency Falls from below. This falls is very impressive at 275 feet, 90 feet taller than Niagara we were informed. We drove up the hill to the top of the falls and visited Montmorency Manor where we had a little snack and a history lesson.
Apparently, the manor was the home of Prince Edward of England's mistress while he was living in Canada. He was later called back to England to do his "duty" and produce an heir to the throne. He married and was the father to Queen Victoria. The manor sits near the top of Montmorency Falls and it's a lovely park with a boardwalk to a viewing station which continues up to a bridge over the falls. You can see that we were enjoying a sunny day for these views....thank goodness.
We then drove through the countryside with the promise of some fall colors near Lake LacBeauport. We were about a week early for the vivid colors that occur in this part of the world, but we did see the beginning of what is a beautiful sight I'm certain. We stopped at a yacht club and took photos from the sunny deck. Very pretty.
It was very tempting to wander around Quebec City once we returned to the ship. We were docked in very close proximity, but we had to pack if we were ever going to have our bags ready for the 10pm pickup. And we had big plans for dinner so choose to get our "work" done so we could play on our last night aboard Regatta. We'd been invited to dinner by Daniel and Crystal, of the entertainment team, to join them and a few other people for dinner. Free wine!! We had a very nice time with this fun group and isn't Daniel cute? Crystal is a sweetie....enjoyed meeting and getting to know these talented young people. They were a delight.
The next few photos are of some of the people that waited on us and became friends during this adventure. Super nice.....all of them. And there's the suitcases lined up for our departure. Great cruise. Thank you, Joyce, for all the fun and memories. The last picture is of my Mom, daughter, sister, granddaughter and me which was taken at Krysten's house a couple days later as I stopped in Seattle on my way home. And another of Bryce and I....he's all grown up. How fast did that go? Rachel flew up from L.A. to be there at the same me as me. Ahhhh, sweet of her.
It was great to see everyone and I'm going right back there in less than two weeks so we didn't have to really even say goodbye when I left . A wonderful end to a great trip. That's all folks, Gayle
