Camper Trip Mexico 2017 #7

Hi Everyone,

Well, we’ve been in Zihuatanejo for nearly a month and will be heading back to Patzcuaro the end of next week so I thought I’d better get busy and at least do the photo email for Patzquaro before we’re there again!!

We drove from our friends, Loch and Becky’s, to Patzcuaro in just a day.  It’s a ways but the roads are really good.  In fact we went on a couple new sections that were unbelievable they were so nice and new and empty.  It cost a bunch in tolls, probably about $40 but it’s worth it to travel so much faster and in comfort instead of the crazy free roads. We stay at the same place each time we go there and it’s very nice and grassy, a park like setting.  There’s photos of us camped there at the end of this bunch of pictures.  It’s also cool and nice since it’s at 7,000 feet elevation.  Which is going to feel fabulous after the heat of Zihuatanejo this past week.  Patzcuaro is a favorite of everyone who goes there.  It’s just such a picturesque place and almost all Mexican.  We stayed three nights and spent one day in town just wandering around.  It was a Sunday so the people were all out and there was fun entertainment going on in a couple places.  The “Old Man Dance” is one that Mike hadn’t seen before and it was very fun to watch.  Had lunch and later had a beer.  Found the chicken place we liked before and bought one to take back for dinner.  All good.

We’ve done a fair amount of shopping this trip, what with the prices so good, and it’s the last time we’ll be down here with the camper.  The large wall hanging we have at home that some of you may have seen came from here.  We went to the same place and bought a smaller one.  Apparently, the guy isn’t making them any longer so they will eventually be unavailable.  I remember he told us it took 50 hours to make the one we have at home...and we paid about $55 for it.  This new one was about $35.  Don’t know where we’ll put it as our walls are FULL but we’ll figure it out. We were anxious to get to Zihuatanejo so didn’t spend a lot of time but it will be fun to spend another day there soon....one last time.  Probably won’t be seeing Patzcuaro again but we will always have very fond memories of the many times we’ve visited.

I’ve got lots to show and tell about Zihuatanejo but for now I’m just glad to get this one sent.  Off to the pool.  Did I mention it’s hot and muggy?

Later.....Gayle and Mike and their faithful kitty, Aja.
