Our next stop was to the Puri Agung Karangasem Palace which is more commonly known asthe Tirta Gangga Water Palace. Don’t ask me why. It was built in the same year that I was born and is an imposing reminder of the time Karangasem was a kingdom. Again, don’t ask. If you Google and find something interesting, let me know. lol
I remember the guide telling us that the paintings on the ceilings were depicting the different punishments or rewards you would receive for good or bad behavior when you die. They were pretty but I didn’t try to figure out my sins. Shopping was going on.
I bought some harem pants....I guess that’s what you’d call them. If you look close in the crowd you can see Ann handing money to a vendor for something or other.....have to give her a hard time.
Next stop was lunch. We drove out in the country and then had to walk up this trail for about a quarter of a mile and there were rice paddies. Really beautiful. And there was a roof area with tables for lunch with a view. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip.
The dude got the oxen (Ha...they were cows) and plowed for our entertainment and it really was very special. Lunch was good and there’s always the local beer.
As we made our way to the next stop there was plenty to see. The homes are built in little compounds, and each compound has a small temple. The place is just amazing everywhere you look. I can see why Bali is such a popular vacation spot.
Wish we could be here longer.....maybe someday.
See you soon,
Gayle
