I’ve got time for one more today. The place is Port Chalmers near the larger town of Dunedin located on New Zealand’s south island at 45 degrees latitude. So it’s chilly with rain showers off and on.
Along with John and Mary we walked the port town as far as the grocery store. I love grocery stores in different countries...always fun to see what they have to offer. They all went and had a beer while I opted to call my husband, since we were in one of the places where my phone plan would function.
This was my first visit to the area so when they all decided to go back to the ship I decided to take the shuttle into Dunedin. It was about a twenty minute drive along the bay that we had entered earlier that morning. Dunedin had lots of old buildings and was a great place to explore. I finally sat down and had some lunch before taking the shuttle back to the ship.
The first photo that is in Dunedin is of Mulberry Lane, the previous are all Port Chalmers. We’d had the Norwegian Jewel next to us and when she left the view got way nicer. There was one lone man in kilt playing the bagpipe as they departed.
We left a bit later and had lovely views of the bay and the headland with a lighthouse. The Captain got on and told us to watch for the colony of birds which included penguins.....and lots of other birds. Beautiful. Ok...enough for today.
Have a great weekend everybody, Gayle
