Hola Amigos and Amigas,
Here's some more photos.......some were taken at Miramar at that cool place that I already sent photos of. But it's just so pretty there and I had more that I liked so you're going to have to see them I guess. The dog is named Archie and he's way cool. The Great Dane - I think there might be two dog pictures. We don't know the names of any other dogs but sometimes they like us so we take their picture!
Near San Blas there is a jungle boat ride and some of the photos are of that. It's fairly obvious which one's they are. The crocs were small but there were dads and moms around that I'm just as happy not to have seen. It's a fun little trip and we had a great lunch at the springs (Tovara I think is the name) that the six kilometer ride takes you to. About two hours long and well worth the (about) 12 bucks each.
I've got more photos to send so will do another email or two. Took lots of pictures lately. We're in Rincon de Guayabitas which is about an hour north of PV. We're staying for a week before heading further down the coast. Today we took one of the wheels (and the tire) from our truck down to a guy that says "no problema" regarding repairing it.....hope he's correct on that. A year ago we had the same problem with a leaky, what we thought was the tire, but was actually the wheel. We had a tough time finding someone who could weld aluminum, but we did find a guy in Victorville, CA. Well, it didn't hold so we'll see how well the Mexican's can fix it. It's supposed to be ready tomorrow in the morning, so we'll soon know. Buying another wheel, or even a tire, down here could be an issue. Cross your fingers.....
On to the next email.
Adios,
Gayle and Mike

Subject: Matenchen Bay at Pepe & Carmen's
Okay - here's another one. The last one I sent (and I know this because I send them to myself) may or may not have included all the photos in the body of the email. The last three on mine we're there but I could open them from top. Anyway......don't want any of you to miss a thing!!
These photos were all taken at Matenchen Bay near San Blas. This is the first place I ever went in Mexico when I came down in 1992 to meet friends on their sailboat. I took the bus, by myself!!, all the way from Puerta Vallarta to Tepic and then the forty or so miles down to Matenchen, in the dark in a taxi. I spoke not a word of Spanish, and it was a miracle that my friends and I found each other in the tiny village of Mantenchen that night. When I woke up the next morning, I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven for sure. What a beautiful place.
In the following years while cruising in Mexico, I became friends with Pepe and Carmen who have a palapa restaurant on the bay. Mike and I camped there for one night and spent the evening with them and their family. Lupita (a relative) was having a 78th birthday and the mariachis were so fun. There were lots of vendors and my favorite, the Huichol man and his daughter, made it even better.
The next morning the views were gorgeous........but the bugs here are famous.....or infamous, I guess. I'm still suffering but it was worth it. Pepe and Carmen are the best!!
Felix Navidad,
Gayle and Mike
